Rachel,

Great post! I particularly enjoyed your thoughts in the last paragraph regarding the the keys to successful leadership. Great leadership begins with leading oneself greatly - and as you mentioned, that begins with guarding our thoughts.

I look forward to gleaning more wisdom from your articles soon.

Blessings,

John

Nice post Rachel. Leadership is about influence and one's ability to motivate and inspire others to results. I have a note written on a piece of paper in front of me that says "Popularity is not leadership. Results is leadership."

Rachel, I always like your insights. You are absolutely right. Leadership starts with having a picture about the future. I liked always the idea of Tom Peters who said that leaders are "angry" because they also know how the future could be and they really would like to be there as fast as possible. --- Boris

And as Derek Sivers said in a great TED video: it's the first follower that makes the difference between a lunatic and a leader.

That is why in a sense the first follower is also a leader.
When someone follows you and you care about that person (his needs) more people will follow.
